How it works

How the stockings are filled

Each stocking is a Christmas songs playlist. The first gift is picked by hand; everything after that comes from the audio.

Who gets on the mantel

Snowbound and Ice Palace — Purrple Cat’s two Christmas Self Release albums — sit at the centre. Around them sit other Self Release tracks whose energy, mood and acousticness sit close to that Christmas centre of gravity. A summer title does not keep a winter-sounding track off the rail.

How a stocking is packed

The first song is chosen so its title matches the theme and its sound fits: Festival of Lights opens Christmas Morning, Hot Chocolate opens Baking Night, Cozy Fireplace opens By the Fire, Silent Wood opens Christmas Eve. After that, the audio decides: each stocking takes the tracks closest to its target energy, mood and acousticness, whatever they are called. Then the songs are ordered nearest-neighbour so the playlist drifts instead of jumping.

What kind of Christmas music is this?

Original holiday and winter lofi by Purrple Cat. Soft keys, muted drums, warm tape. It isn’t carol covers, it isn’t a live orchestra, and none of it is AI.
